Spearfishing in the Florida Keys

Raised with a love for the outdoors, Captain Tony Young has spent his life in the waterโ€”fishing since he was a kid, diving since he was twelve. Now, as a professional spearfisherman and the owner of Forever Young Charter Company, his passion has become his purpose: sharing the experience of spearfishing and sustainable fishing with others, while cultivating a deeper respect for the ocean.

His story, shared in this short film, follows Tony and a few close friends as they set out from Islamorada in the Florida Keys for a day of fishing and adventure in the tropic waters of the Caribbean. The film showcases Tony's approach to spearfishing as a selective harvest and an ever-present respect for the food that you eat, recognizing the time and effort that goes into every meal.

When you spend your life in the water, your gear has to hold up. Tonyโ€™s watch isnโ€™t for showโ€”itโ€™s a tool, just like his spear, his fins, and the knife on his belt. Itโ€™s been with him on deep dives, long days in the sun, and through currents strong enough to knock a man off his line. It takes a beating, gets rinsed off, and does it all over again the next day. In spearfishing, timing is everythingโ€”knowing how long youโ€™ve been under, when the tides are shifting, how much daylight youโ€™ve got left. Thatโ€™s why Tony wears a Vaer. Itโ€™s tough, simple, and built for the kind of work where failure isnโ€™t an option.
